Congratulations on your new cutting board! Here are some care instructions to help you keep it in great condition:
Hand wash only: To avoid damaging the wood, always hand wash your cutting board with warm, soapy water. Avoid putting it in the dishwasher.
Don't soak: Do not soak your cutting board in water. This can cause the wood to warp or crack and possibly damage the epoxy.
Don’t use bleach as it can stain the wood
Dry thoroughly: After washing, dry your cutting board thoroughly with a clean towel or let it air dry completely before storing. A wet cutting board placed on a flat surface may warp due to uneven drying.
Oil the wood: To keep the wood from drying out, apply food-grade mineral oil or cutting board oil to the board every few weeks or as needed. A good indication of when to do this is if a drop of water no longer beads on the surface of the cutting board.
Clean the cutting board and let dry
Generously apply cutting board / butcher block conditioner or mineral oil with paper towel or dry cloth
Let sit for a while to allow oil to soak in
Wipe off excess and let dry
Avoid extreme temperatures: Do not expose your cutting board to extreme temperatures, such as placing it near a hot stove, placing a hot pot on it, or leaving it in a cold car. This can cause the epoxy to melt/crack or warp the wood.
Use non-abrasive cleaners: If you need to clean stubborn stains or residue, use a non-abrasive cleaner and a soft sponge or cloth to avoid scratching the epoxy or the wood.
By following these care instructions, your cutting board should last for years to come - Enjoy!
